Next week starts one heck of a week starting with DMA07 in Chicago, the largest marketing conference in the world. On Tuesday afternoon I am speaking on a panel called “Desperately Seeking Links Baiting, Buying and Socializing for Links” with Stephan Spencer, Seth, Besmertnik and Eric Ward.
Then on Thursday, I will be presenting as part of a post conference workshop on new media, specifically social media, with Joseph Jaffee of Crayon. Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning Joseph is covering blogs, podcasting, video casting and Second Life/virtual worlds. Thursday afternoon I will be presenting on social bookmarking and SEO as well as a grab bag session on Yahoo! Answers, Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. I might have picked a slightly different mix of applications to talk about but then again the topic selection wasn’t my call.
I was to speak on the social bookmarking panel at SMX Social Media in New York, but that session directly conflicts with my linking session at DMA07. It looks like Stephan Spencer will be speaking at both conferences though. I guess the flying to Chicago then to NYC then back home in a few days is no big deal for Stephan since he’s used to flying halfway across the world for conferences.
Speaking of SMX Social Media, TopRank’s Dana Larson will be blogging the conference live as well as taking plenty of photos. Be sure to watch your RSS feed (you ARE subscribed, aren’t you? 🙂 ) or come back and visit the site next week for her SMX coverage.
After I finish the social media workshop in Chicago, I’ll come back to Minneapolis for a night and then fly out to Philadelphia the next day for the PRSA International conference. There I’ll be doing a panel on social media for public relations “PR & Social Media: What Every Practitioner Needs to Know” moderated by Peter Himler of Flatiron Communications and including Rob Key of Converseon and Nicco Mele of echoditto. It should be a great panel as Rob is heavy into virtual worlds and Nicco has done some great work with several big brands.
That will wind up about 8 days on the road until November when it will either be an event at MIT or ad:tech New York.
