On the heels of a tough year for marketers, businesses and society in general, 2021 came in and presented even more challenges to say the least
But through these challenges came opportunities to accelerate digital transformation, pivot to new go-to-market models focused on digital first customers, better experiences and more human B2B communications. Another key trend has been an increase (even if just slightly) by marketers, publications and companies in giving voice to those who are underrepresented. And that is where this post comes in: giving voice to talent.
If ever there were a time for the B2B marketing industry to raise the bar, level up and elevate – it is in 2022. For our small part, TopRank Marketing is focused on elevating B2B marketing in three key areas:
Humanize B2B – By bringing more authentic voices, storytelling and emotion to B2B content, brands can more effectively connect with buyers in meaningful ways.
Level up Experiences – Digital first buyers require information discovery, consumption and engagement in new formats including short form and livestream video, episodic content, interactive content and most of all, credible content that offers utility and an experience buyers are not getting elsewhere.
Give Voice to Talent – While nearly 50% of CMOs are women, only 12% are racially or ethnically diverse. Fortunately, there are organizations like BECA bringing together powerful voices for change. We all know there are systemic barriers causing many B2B brands to miss out on connecting with the most talented marketers. By highlighting diverse marketing talent in posts like this, we hope to elevate exposure of marketers who can help elevate the practice of B2B marketing.
Over the past 20+ years I’ve worked in marketing, I’ve had the privilege of being inspired by, learning from and becoming friends with some of the top B2B marketing minds in the world including Ann Handley, Ardath Albee, Ty Heath, Pam Didner, Ruth Stevens, Jenn VandeZande, Rani Mani, Ursula Ringham and many more. We’ve done our best to highlight such talent over the past 12 years in lists like this.
For this, the 12th edition of TopRank Marketing Blog’s Women Who Rock Series, I’ll be sharing a list of women (in alphabetical order) working in senior level roles at a range of mid-market to large enterprise companies – all of whom are doing inspiring work in the B2B marketing industry. This diverse group of women have accomplished much in their marketing careers and hopefully their inclusion in this list will give you new connections to be inspired by for your own marketing.
