I’m off to Chicago, Illinois (my home state) this week to cover SES Chicago and will be posting session and event coverage here on Online Marketing Blog as the week progresses.

Attending conferences is a fantastic part of working for TopRank. Conferences are a learning opportunity like no other and help spark new ideas, approaches and tactics. I’m particularly excited about SES Chicago as it combines two things I absolutely love: Search Marketing & Chicago.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been asked what I’m most excited about with the conference. Below are a few thoughts on that:

Let’s start with Search: Gleaning ideas to further customize SEO programs to clients both big and small. The two sessions below seem primed to help:

    • Igniting Viral Campaigns – In a world dominated by behemoths like bud.tv, MySpace, and YouTube, how do mid-sized and smaller companies break through to generate online destinations that create buzz, encourage word of mouth and establish relationships with potential buyers. This session unveils the secrets of Web 2.0 techniques and technologies that enable companies to standout and be talked about.
    • Big Site, Big Search – How do you cope with doing search engine optimization for a company with tens of divisions, hundreds of products, thousands of web pages and seemingly no way to bring order to the chaos? Where do you begin with the SEO process? This panel looks at problems and solutions unique to those running big sites or from big companies and brands.

The Online Marketing mix can vary greatly depending on the objective, size and flexibility of the organization. I’m excited to learn others’ approaches to catering to the size of the company and share it with Online Marketing Blog readers.

Meeting Seth Godin. In a recent webinar with Seth Godin (check out my previous post “60 Minutes with Seth Godin and a Meatball Sundae“), Seth indicated that he doesn’t ‘friend’ just anyone on Facebook. I love a challenge! 🙂

Covering a search conference as a blogger. Live blogging a conference is both a challenge and a rewarding experience. Keep checking back for new posts from myself and my colleague Mike Yanke, who is also attending SES Chicago.

Am I excited about Chicago? Yes and here’s why!

    • Giordano’s Pizza. Rated ‘Best Pizza in America’ by the Today Show. Check out the one on Rush St, it’s my favorite.
    • Michigan Avenue
    • Red Head Piano Bar. This is my favorite place to listen to music and I try to visit each time I’m in town, however this week is looking busy. If you get time, definitely check it out.

Keep checking back as Mike and I blog the sessions we attend and the SES conference experience this week. And if you see me around, come and say hello!
